Wood Frog

I tuned up my bike on the weekend and took it out for a spin along the PPJ (old rail line) on Sunday. I met up with a couple of DECN teachers who were also out for a walk. They said that a bit farther down the track were a lot of wild fiddle heads for the picking. Being from New Brunswick, I couldn't pass up the chance of getting some, or at least marking their location.

I didn't find any fiddle heads, but I did find this lil guy. He hopped out of my way as I tried to climb the embankment -- you can only see'em when they actually move!

I was wishing that I had 1) a tank set up at home for him and 2) a means of getting him home safely.

As I had neither, I let him go and watched him for a minute or two before remembering that I could at least take a picture or two of him.

Wood frogs have to be one of my favourite amphibians ... right after American toads and Grey tree frogs!
