"Fishy Fishy Fishy!"
When I brought my aquarium home from school, it had 1 goldfish, 2 female guppies, a very large snail, a lot of algae and whatever plants the snail hadn't managed to eat up to that point. One of the guppies died 24hrs after the move. Since the tank, a 20 gal. (tall), looked so empty with only two fish in it, I decided I had to get some more.
My first trip to the pet store resulted in: 3 glass shrimp, 1 chinese algae eater, 2 lyre-tailed mollies and 3 guppies (a male blue neon, a male fancy, a "normal" female). One of the mollies and a shrimp didn't make the first 24 hours. They were consumed by the snail -- and I wonder how the thing got so huge! The other molly, male fancy, and a second shrimp have since been eaten by the snail. Sheesh.
Today I went back to the store and got 2 sailfin mollies. These mollies are bigger than the guppies but not as big as the goldfish. They went to work helping the algae eater as soon as they were introduced to the tank. Hopefully they'll last! The tank now looks nice and I don't think I need to add anything more. Well ... maybe some more plants. I hope to have a few pics up of the tank soon.
Next tank project? Maybe a small colony of neon tetras.
